Visit of Peter and Sandra to the Bahamas: January – February 2008 |
Guana Cay is a little island off the coast of Great Abaco in the Bahamas. It is only 7 miles long and about half a mile wide at its widest point. It has a permanent population of about 120 and that is increased to about 150 by tourists. |
We were there during the month of January. Church starts at 10.30 with a family service and we had over 50 people at each one. On one occasion we asked the congregation to tell us what nationality they were. There were folks from the UK – Sandra and I – from Canada, the USA, Gyana, Haiti and of course, the Bahamas! |

We studied the ministry of Jesus from Matthew 14-18 and we had a wonderful month of friendship and fellowship. Here are some pictures of the church.

As well as the Sunday morning service we also had services Sunday evening and a Bible Study on Tuesday. |
| During February we went over the sea to Marsh Harbour to work with two churches, the Gospel Chapel and New Vision Ministries. The Chapel has a school as part of its ministry and so we always get involved with the teachers and the High School pupils while we are there. |

We spent a lot of time with people in their homes encouraging and getting alongside them, as well as teaching the Bible. There are three services every Sunday and one in the week. We did studies on the Tabernacle in Bible Class and the main teaching series was on the life of David. |
Our last Sunday was in New Vision. It is a contemporary church with a growing population. Here are some pictures of the church. |

Of course it isn’t all work! On Saturdays we often go off in the boat for a picnic – Bahamian style! |
